assult by beating

My husband and a women that was with him attacked me and hit me and he kicked me whislt on the floor, he was arrested and i gave a statement the next morning, he was given a bail order and on the first court apperarance he pleaded not guilty, he is being done for assult by battery, i have heard he has said he admitted at the police station, as their were two witnesses and the women who attacked me got a caution, y didn.t he, and now she is a witness, i am so confused i have with drawn my statement, but now been summond which now 2 months down the road i have no problem with doing so, he is on the police systems for fighting when younger football fights, etc police told me he hasnt got a criminal record,, does anyone know what the charges will be, will he go to prison
