hi, i have recently had a letter from a bailiff demanding i pay a bill, i spoke to the is company and they told me who the debt was from.

i have never once recieved an invoice from this company and now the bailff has put a £100 charge on top of the original bill?

i have spoken to the company who i owe this debt to (its a business debt) and the main person wouldnt talk to me?

is this legal sending a debt collection company to collect a debt that has not been invoiced?

so youve never had any invoice or statements or anything? I thought Bailiffs were only appointed after court judgements?

Do you owe the money?

oh yes i do owe the money, its a debt recovery firm who has sent me the letter. when i told them i was going to pay it but i wasnt going to pay the extra charges they told me that the debt was now thiers and ALL of the money is owed?
All the money is owed I'm afraid. They paid the other company to take on the debt. The debt recovery firm then add on their fees so they make a profit ans then you pay. In this case the law is on their side 100%. The longer you leave it the more will be added.

Take my advice, pay now. A friend once went down this route of 'i'm not paying' and lost much of what he had worked for in the end.
