I got a parking fine in a restaraunt car park this evening, the sign showed £ .00 parking fee. the 1 had been scratched off , but from only a few yards you could not see this, it was at 5.45pm and it is free after 6.00. I would of had no problem in paying as you get the pound back off the meal. It states on the fine slip payment must be paid with appeal, so I dont think I will get payment back. Thanks for any advice.

You got a £1 fine for parking too early. What is your question? Why do you believe you would get it back?
I doubt it's a £1 fine. The original amount would've been £1, but if that was the fine, then there'd be no incentive to pay- people would just wait until they were caught.
I have to question why, if there was a sign detailing parking fees - and I have doubts that even though the 1 was scratched off you didnt look harder than from a few feet - then you looked harder than you did for the fee and hoped that parking at 5.45 would have enabled you to not pay your £1
