car clamping
A friend of mine has just been charged £275.00 by a clamping firm for parking in a private residential road. She was later speaking to a lady who is a resident of the same road, who told her that the clamping firm had no legal right to operate in this street as each house/ flat owned a parking space within the deeds of their property and just one resident had instructed the clamping firm to operate down the street.
My question/ questions are: who has the legal authority to request a clamping firm operate in a particular street?
Are the clamping firm allowed to clamp residents who fail to display a permit, even though they own the parking space within their title deeds?
If the clamping firm were found to be operating without the required consent, would anyone who has been clamped be entitled to a refund?
Many thanks in advance.
