Criminal Damage to my car by x husband

My x husband who i have just separated from has been charged for Criminal damage to my car windscreen. as he smashed when he got angree with me.
he was taken to court for his actions but is now claiming that he owns half the car so cant cause damage to his own car. the car is in my name and all other document are also in my name even the recipet for the car is in my name.
can he do this and does he have the right to the car???

What would happen if the car had been Maxine's yet as she was at home with children, did not go out to work and did not purchase the car using an account in her own name? Also, what would happen if, once again the car was Maxine's and it was bought with monies from the joint account that she shared with her husband, as their money went together in one account every month?
Many women share accounts with thier husbands and many do not go out to work due to family responsibilities. Where then does "proof of ownership" lie?
