Two years ago i purchased a 3+2 brown leather from land of leather, i also took out an extended warranty for 5yrs and was told this would cover everything. I have now found the so-called leather is starting to crack in places, i have rung the insurance company and was told that it's not covered under warranty, only things like springs, recliner mechanism. Also was told that the sofa is not leather but in fact 'vinyl', as land of leather is no longer i really don't know what else to do only try citizens advice, anyone got any other ideas on what to do? "apart from setting fire to it".
Yes, as the leather has cracked, the insurance says it's wear and tear so is not covered, which it does say in the policy. But should this happen after only two years of use?
Is it the vinyl or the leather that is cracked? The warranty won't cover the vinyl parts if it is Homesure that you are dealing with.
Leather will crack within two years if it has been near a heat source, such as bright sunlight, a fire or radiator. Leather should be properly cleaned and treated to stop it cracking, as it does tend to dry out.
Homesure came out today and told me the whole thing is vinyl, there is no leather on the two sofas at all. Thats why it's cracking because it's not leather.
You have to find out if the purchaser of the old company (if there is a purchaser) bought with or without liabilities. If with, you have to find out who took over the warranty business.
Wasn't this the company that pproduced loads of furniture with packs of chemicals inside that affected some people with rashes, etc? Big thing a year or so ago.
Yes AlBags that's the company, but must say never suffered any rash from mine, i didn't think for one minute that it wasn't leather. It felt the same as leather does and even smelt like leather but another friend of mine told me they use a spray to apply to the sofa so it smells like leather, i was told it was leather so didn't think otherwise.
