How old do you have to be to go in the gallery at court in the UK?

My boyfriend is in court tomorrow & i want to go with him. Just me, him & his dad. It is crown court but it's in our local town court (they have crown court there every friday). I want to know wether or not i would be old enough to be able to sit in the gallery and watch? How old do you have to be? I am 17 x

I've never seen anyone being asked for ID.....
You should be ok but remember to stay quiet no matter how unfair things seem or you will make things worse and could get in trouble yourself.
Wow.. Crown Court.. can I ask - what did he do?
When I was at college at age 17 and did law as a subject we went to the courts for a day. I don't think there is a lower age limit.

Emily, just checked it up and you have to be either a blood relative, or over the age of 18. They will check for ID and remove anyone that shouldn't be there
How comes we were let in then Bob. Strange. Well it was a long time ago and we were a group studying law. And it was a murder case!!

Anybody aged fourteen or over can sit in the public gallery.
If they query it tell them you're his sister and get his dad to back you up.
dont they have seats at the back of the court for a few relatives anymore, they used to.
