Something thats just come up in concersation - - - - Would a child under 9 if caught shoplifting be prosecuted by the police? I thought slapped wrists but no prosecution, someone else said yes they would be and put into cate.
Anyone know ?

(That should be care of course) slip of the finger.
I doubt they'd put them into care, anyway they are under the age of criminal responsibility so may just be banned from the shop.

I don't know but where i used to work, young children were often caught robbing and were left by the parents while they ran off, no lie, and the Gardai would be called but I'm not sure if they were charged, I think they just brought them to the station until the parents were contacted.
