Hello there...

I just wondered if anyone could help or advise me on the following....

3yrs ago...my ex accumulated a large number of parking tickets in the UK...and didnt bother paying them. He was summoned to court, but actually left the country before the court date!...(idiot I know!)

However....he now has to return to the UK to visit family....will he be arrested at customs when he tries to enter???

Many thanks x

has a warrant been issued for his arrest?

...Sadly, he has no idea...and doesnt know how to find out??

I think he worries....that if he makes enquiries, they will be alerted as to his whereabouts and the fact he is wanting to return to the country.
Would be useful to know what the parking 'fines' were. Either Penalty Charge Notices(PCN), issued by a council, or Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN), issued by the Police.
The police don't normally issue parking tickets these days.

Chances are he is on the books of debt collection agencies, but they wouldn't be aware he entered the country.
If these are penalty charge notices they are a civil matter and there is no question of arrest or of any involvement of police. (Does he remember what Court he was summoned to? If it was the County Court then it was a civil matter; if the Magistrates Court it was criminal.)

If they are Magistrates Court fines or fixed penalty notices issued by police it is a different matter. If that is the case, the most sensible thing would be for him to pay them off before coming back to UK. Otherwise, if he doesn't want to try & find out if an arrest warrant has been issued, he will just have to turn up and hope.
Even if he's arrested he'll be bailed within a few hours I would think. Or at worst next day.

And unless he's got a very uncommon name how will they know it's him anyway?
