I understand the premise of the FOI and who may request info and what info may be requested. BUT...can the body / dept from WHOM the info has been requested fin dout WHO it is that has requested the info. For eg: if Joe Bloggs goes to the FOI Officer of a government organsissation and asks for info from a dept can this dept get the name of Joe Bloggs as the requestee? Does this make sense?
thanks square - but will the body / dept be able to get the name of the person asking the original Q ? (ie will the FOI officer be able to able to give who applied to the dept)
For your request to be dealt with according to the Freedom of Information Act, you must:
•contact the relevant authority directly;
•make the request in writing, for example in a letter or an email. You can make a verbal or written request for environmental information;
•give your real name; and
•give an address to which the authority can reply. This can be a postal or email address.
when i have ever recieved freedom of information requests, (i work in a PCT) i have just been asked for the information by the officer who is dealing with it, and they have never told me the name (and i have never been interested enough to ask). However, i would guess if i wanted to know i could probably find out
