At first I thought, what?! Then when Mother said they will shorten it, I quite like it.

It's a lovely name and isn't he adorable?
I quite like it myself. I expect it will get shortened to Santi, which is not too bad. I have heard of a girl called this.
It's one of my daughter's preferences for hers, in April.
I like it

Yes, shortening it to Santi. I like it, and baby is gorgeous. Looks very much like his Granddad.
Not Benidorm then.
Can't go wrong with most Saint's names.
Hang on a mo whilst I Google St Benidorm ...
Santiago is the Spanish version of James.
They could have called him Impetigo ... then they could have shortened it to Impie.

Or Timbuktu.
We know that Lady CG, seems some are too well up on names.
If he turns out anything like his namesake Santiago Cabrera from The Three Musketeers then he'll be a stunner.
I quite like it :o)

So is there a St Iago? I know of the Shakespearean character and Aladdin parrot called Iago.
They could have called him Compostillo and shortened it to.....Compost..lol
Is her partner Spanish? If not would have been simpler to call him James.
All in the link Tiggs.

What does the name Santiago mean? Santiago is a Spanish name which translates as Saint James. The name derives from the Hebrew name Jacob, via Sant Iago, which was first used to denote Saint James the Great. The popular name is also a city in Chile, and is often shortened to Santi or San, and even Sandy in English-speaking countries.
Loads of place names are used for baby names. Brooklyn, Paris, etc., even London (Hughes).
India, Chelsea.
Both of which I like.
Yep, just seen now. Didn't fully read it at first.
Bet you are glad your mam n dad didn't call you Smallthorne Tills. :))
