Hoarder
66 Answers
Have just watched a programme about a man who lives in Surrey who is a serious hoarder.I've never seen anything like it in my life.
The other people in the village didn't want to have anything to do with him but one man offered his help and eventually more people came forward to offer their help.
They manage to clear most of his garden but then had to tackle the house and then the programme ended! grrrrr.
Why don't people who make these programmes realise that most of us would liked to have seen the outcome?
Did anyone else on here watch it?

have a lot of stuff? = hoarder... end of...
for some there is no shades of grey, reasons, logic etc - its just stuff and should be binned...
i find that attitude extremely annoying.... as i get called a hoarder and have even had people suggest i need psychological help for it... even after i have explained why i have the stuff...
i have said many times that if i didnt do the job i did, i would bin loads of stuff ... i dont WANT it all... its just useful ... i dont keep it because of some compulsion or issue with throwing stuff away - yet many just have ONE label an use it on everyone - its especially annoying when it comes from people who know absolutely nothing about hoarding and think it is simply "having lots of stuff"

I agree joko and I must admit I was probably in that category of people until I was educated by watching this type of programme on TV. Now realise the difference between a hoarder and somebody like myself who finds it really difficult to throw things away that I think might come in useful one day but I can get to my bed and bathroom without having to climb over stacks and stacks of newspapers and there lies the difference.A hoarder is on a completely different level.I have clothes that I will probably never wear. Audio tapes that I will never listen to, but I wont throw them away so I am part way to understanding how a hoarder might feel but unless I ever got this way myself then I cannot fully understand what that person feels but I do have every sympathy for them.
actually my biggest problem is not so much volume of stuff - as i have plenty of space for it... its organisation and neatness...
if i could get all my stuff in boxes, labelled and on shelves in some sort of order, it wouldnt be an issue - the place would be tidy and no-one would call me a hoarder...they would call me "organised" or "thorough"...hehe
i too can get around my house perfectly well though, nothing is blocked - i can see my carpets haha
i noticed that guy said his problem was a storage one initially - he has a point... but without addressing why he keeps junk hed just fill it up again.
