dire or what. Today's fare is so poor, I mean who thinks of putting war
films on, endless old tired sitcoms, and westerns that weren't good when released years ago. There must be something to tickle the tastebuds,
I will watch the New Years Day concert from Vienna, but that's it.

7 brides for 7 brothers was on over christmas. Most of what was on then is on a rolling loop. Not exactly what i had in mind for a festive break
I think his contribution on this thread explains a lot.

DT, welcome back, probably right...
Darling buds of May on ITV3?
Look, I'm contributing now aren't I? And that's a prEposition.
Even the news reel is boring.

I was hoping Christmas Uni Challenge would be fun it wasn't, it was more embarassing.

Won't even dare look at this afternoon's programmes - no doubt a repeat of the Guns of Navaronne from yesterday or Where Eagles Dare. Thank God, am out for dinner with family this evening.

Vienna day concert BBC2, on now.....
I agree em10. A few programmes I've enjoyed, but only after trawling through endless pages of RT trying to find something - anything - to watch that wasn't yet another repeat of somethig I didn't want to see in the first place. Couldn't go out for a walk either, as OH had a nasty attack of gout.
At Liszt.
Didn't even turn the TV on yesterday but today I might watch Seven Brides For Seven Brothers C5 12.45 or I might just record it and watch another time.
Also have to record Bolt for the grandchildren and might watch The Unforgettable John Thaw 9.45pm ITV1 that's about it.
You are off your trolley this am, Zac - the NY concert from Vienna features nothing but the Strauss family......at the moment, the least known of them, Eduard.

And before you make the linkage, no relative of Andrew Strauss, though he handles a cricket bat like a conductor's baton from time to time.

MissP, have 7 brides for 7 brothers on dvd, great film, but confess that much of what's on, has been on other channels over christmas or weeks before the event. I tried watching the new adaptation of Great Expectations but gave up after 30 minutes. apart from the watchable ray winstone there was nothing to recommend it. It's a great story ruined by firstly casting a bloke who was a tweedle for robert pattinson and was so wooden he could have been a bookcase. Then not remotely sticking to the story, and to Miss Havisham looking like an extra from Shaun of the Dead, shame to ruin it.
Go watch David Leans film of the same name, excellent and very much of the book.
I'm going to watch an old DVD...Gone with the Wind...it's years since I saw it.
Question Author
DT, i think that comment was, Brahms and Liszt....

Noraq a classic, and my top ten film of all time
Didn't get to watch 7Bfor7B over Christmas and fell asleep watching Great Expectations so all in all you are right when you say TV is dire over the holidays. Thank goodness for Answerbank :-)
