On BBC4..a Wonderful programme tracking the Gershwin classic "Summertime"..covered by such Greats as Miles Davis,John Coltrane,Billie Holiday,Mahalia Jackson,Ella Fitzgerald,almost a soundtrack to Americas struggle,and the brutal treatment and tragedies that ensued.in the campaign for equal rights..fascinating,haunting,Excellent!!

And its beauty and adaptability saw the song sweep through the Caribbean down to Brazil..across to India..all those peoples giving their interpretation...it is the most covered song..with over 25,000 different versions in existence..
