These are all 100% true. I thought they were hysterical!
1. Ted Walsh - Horse Racing Commentator: " This really is a lovely horse - I once rode her mother"
2. Pat Glenn, weightlifting commentator: "And this is Gregorivia from Bulgaria...I saw her snatch this morning and it was amazing"
3.harry carpenter at the Oxford-cambridge boat race 1977: "Ah, isnt that nice. the wife of the cambridge president is kissing the Cox of the Oxford crew"
4.US PGA Commentator : "One of the reasons that Arnie is playing so well is that before each tee shot, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them. Oh my god!! What have I just said?"
5. A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed but didnt, turned to the weatherman and said" So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set but half the crew did too, because they were laughing so hard!

Not so much a d-e, but a huge faux pas, was Raymond Brookes-Ward, the show-jumping commentator at the Int'l Horse of the Year Show doubling up on BBC commentary and the stadium. The Beeb was off air but, unknown to him, the arena system was on.
The Queen Mum came into the show ring to present the rosettes etc for a junior event and RB-W turned to his collague and "announced," "What a bloody awful hat the Queen Mum is wearing this afternoon..."
Red faced he was too but the Queen Mum did see the funny side and wouldn't let him forget his remark.
