Sky quiz live

Did anyone see todays skyquiz live on the skymix channel? They had a question that went on for ages, it was, how many hundreds can you see? they had a box full of different equations and numbers and words etc. including.....600, 300, 100, centipede, 1000/10, ton, fifty fifty chance, and one other which i forget now, but it was def another 100, therefore i made the answer 15 hundreds that could be seen, the answer eventually came out as 28. they didnt explain why??? does anyone know why or any help will do, its so annoying!!!!!!

I don't have an answer I'm afraid but I do share your fustration having wasted an hour and a half watching it this morning. Similar round, hundreds and thousands and they displayed something like the following:
one hundred
                  century
300       500

Sorry about the last posting, it got submitted accidently, so I'll try again.

Today I watched the hundreds and thousands round of SkyQuizLive and they displayed in some order:
one hundred, century, millennium, 300 , 500/5 (actually 500 underlined with a 5 beneath it), 100 x 5, a monkey, ton.

My first answer was 27, which was given as wrong, and I could also come up with 1 (also given wrong) and 125 by counting one hundred and century together as 100.

No one got the answer, which apparantly was 75! I would like to know how they came up with it, because the presenter kept implying that the answer was straightforward yet I couldn't see it and I'm not stupid.

I had a quick look on the sky web site and couldn't see any solutions, but I noticed that point 6.2 of the terms and conditions on the website http://www.skyquizlive.co.uk/terms/ basically says that if the solution is wrong then tough (not that I'm at all cynical)!

This has really bugged me as well, so I hope someone has an answer. If I find one myself I will post it here.

I'm glad someone answered me, its still bugging me now! I'm even thinking of writing to them! its just things like this really bug me!! the presenter is so annoying also, constantly repeating over and over again how much money is up for grabs etc. I only flicked onto the channel by mistake last week as there wasn't much on tv. I was off sick for one day!! Anyway, thanks for your reply, lets hope we solve the problem!!

Hello, My name is Brian from Swanage in Dorset. I hope my explanation will answer your question. I have myself also participated in these quizzes and for many months annoyed me also, but eventually after a long time working them out did eventually win money on the programme.

For example with this particular puzzle: You also have to think laterally as in count absolutely everything. The one thing that you forgot to count was ROMAN NUMERALS. e.g in the word CENTIPEDE - you have a C and a D. The letter C in roman numerals = 100 and the letter D = 500. these must also be counted in th answer and the same goes for any other words in the puzzle.

I found this very helpful and it seems to work for me.

Roman numerals, of course! How annoying that I didn't think of that - I'll put it down to being ill at the time (that was why I was at home off work). That said, judging by my original comments (it was a long time ago I saw the show) it seems that the presenter was making out that it was a lot more obvious than that.

Anyhow, many thanks for that bit of information Brian, this was something that really bugged me at the time so I am glad that someone took the time to explain (even though its months since you replied - the account is not on my main email address), and that I know that the answer was valid, albiet very sly!
