Sky report that the FA have asked West Brom for permission to talk to Roy Hodgson to take over as England manager, looks like Harry boy has fallen out of favour. Too much baggage perhaps?

The FA (as usual) have made a horlicks of it all.
Harry does strike me as the sort who wouldn't handle the pressure too well if results went a bit pear shaped and as I said when he was recently cleared in Court, the whole experience looked as though it had put him (and just as importantly his family) through the ringer and I'm not sure he'd want the same amount of attention but ten-fold, in the hardest job in the world.

Hodgson is a good manager (never given a decent chance at Anfield, unlike KK who had/has similar stats!) with a wealth of experience from coaching in Europe.

My choice would be Pardew but at the moment the Geordies would be loathe to let him go, such is his current form (yesterday aside).

Also, let's wait and see how Pearce does at the Euro Championships. After all, he's been there and done it all (almost) at club and national level as a player and would re-ignite the passion missing in those who are blessed and honoured to wear the shirt of their country.

agree with most of that Philtaz. Just think Hodgson's experience will supplement Pearce's passion. I think they could work well together while Pearce gets the experience to take on the job fully. Redknapp is a dodgy character in my opinion, and I think he'll miss the wheeling and dealing of club life. In fact I think he's missing that role at Spurs as the chairman seems to have taken that responsibility awat from him. Wise man!!!!

i love my football and i think roy hodgson would be no better than steve mclaren was.. what has hodgson actually won in the game??? he took fulham to the final in the europa league a few seasons ago..does that warrant the england managers job???..harry is the best of a poor bunch of english managers imo...

Hodgson has got international experience taking lesser know countries (Switzerland for example) to tournament finals. Gotta be better than Maclaren!! Redkapp has no such experience and indeed very little experience of european footy at any level. No, think I prefer Hodgson (with Pearce) overall. We'll see - don't think it matters much, not sure we've got the quality of footballer currently seen in Spain, Germany and Holland. Familiar story.

I think that is a little unfair........we have some seriously good players, what we lack is that ultimate "flair" to catalyse the team, the Massi or Ronaldo.....that is the question,who in our league teams do we have coming through.

I do think we could do with a "Banksie" goalie though or "Shilton is better than God at saving."

For what it is worth, I think Woy is probably the best candidate for the job, but he is the right manager for the wrong team. I cannot see his ethos being transmitted to the England team in the short time left before the start of the tournament as they are very set in their ways, and we all know how English players reacted to a new style at Chelsea. As soon as AVB was gone they started playing again, and look where they are now? Quite why anyone in a confortable Premier League job would take it on is beyond me anyway. It is a thankless task ruined by an overly voracious media pack, and expectations are ridiculously high for some strange reason.

Roy has bags of experience throughout Europe and has managed successful club and international sides and is well respected in the game.

Can he manage an aging side and integrate promising younger players -who knows - we have nothing to lose.

I say give him a chance.

I reckon England may do ok at the Euros. I've never known the expectation to be so low so the pressure's off.
Normally we only have to turn up to win and therefore, don't.
