It's a kind of syncopated chanting....
I recorded it and watched it late last night, absolutely loved it, I thought he was so funny and had a good laugh !

More discussion here :) ^^^^^
Was he drunk at the very beginning or simply nervous (which would be a surprise)? He got more into the spirit of the show as it progressed but maybe it took so long to record that he ended up sober if he was indeed tanked up at the start.
Absolutely brilliant, though I still think they missed a trick by not beaming him up at the end...
Loved the way he entered at the beginning like he was on the Starship Enterprise !! That programme just gets better and better.
I enjoyed it and for once Ian and Paul were tolerant and supportive.
He obviously didn't know very much about any of the subjects he was asking questions about but I think he did well considering he's just come back from space.
I don't watch much TV and haven't seen HIGNFY before, but I like William Shatner. It was a good laugh and I enjoyed watching it - it is hard to believe that he is 80 year old.
He's 80 years old !!!! Never ............
I didn't realise that he is that old!!
In fact I've just checked, he's actually 81 now - he wears it well !!!!

Just to answer Bibble's point - I don't think he was drunk or unduly nervous, I think he's just very elderly but up for a laugh, even at his own expense.
What a sport!
What was it said said about Ilfracombe......'laced with prostitutes' or something?
He's four days older than Leonard Nimoy, who I thought was much older.
I don't think he was drunk at all, he played it for laughs and he played it well ....

If you mean QI (Quite Iinteresting) I thought William Shatner was good for an American who did not know rules or panellists. But his age? Is a clone from earlier years?
Where's QI come in to it?
