Earlier our neighbours where followed home by a lovely little male staphie only about 6 months old. No collar or any form of identification. Neighbour arranged to take him to the vets, and was going to take him on the bus. We were heading out and offered to take him as it was on the way, but noticed for such a young dog he had a lot of scars on his muzzle legs and chest. Warning bells for my hubby whos a copper so had to keep our over enthusiastic toddler away I just cant trust a dog I dont know. Toddler was heartbroken at leaving him at the vets (more than when we left our dog to be neutered). We and the vet nurse doubt he had chip so 7 days then by by doggy :( they simply have no room :( happy we helped him, just hope he goes home :(
Very sad - the scars might have been caused by fighting with other dogs - let's hope it wasn't inflicted on him by his owners. Shame there is no animal sanctuary near you - it seems so sad to have to put down a perfectly healthy animal, whatever it is (although I don't like staffies personally, but that's me). Shame also that his owners hadn't bothered to have him microchipped...
It was our vets, and the vet nurse recognised us and asked us how sprite was. Talk about service :) we have an rspca shelter close by but they and the others locally are over flowing. I am not keen on staphies, nice dogs if raised right but on the whole not keen! Have put a shout out on several facebook groups, waiting to see if there is any come back.
Its because no one has room for any more abandoned animals, we would have him but already have two dogs. Plus, with the scaring they simply cannot say what is temprement will be likex
Poor thing, its quite upset me as a dog lover. Lets hope someone in the area will take him, can you not put a plea for help or for new ownership in your local paper? or print out posters and stick on lamp posts? Wish I could help ............
tilly I belong to the shar pei rescue and we try and get dogs to their destination usually by relay with our volunteers if you are serious about adoption contact Roma on sharpeiwelfareandrescue uk website and see if she can help but if you have thought about it and changed your mind then leave it to the RSPCA but they often put healthy dogs down shame the poor mite couldnt have gone to Dogs Trust.
We took no piccies, and knowing our luck some unscrupulousness person would claim he is theres. I am phoning the vets later to see what happened to him, lost a little sleep over him last night, knowing our two were tucked up into bed (eventually!) and he was in kennels :(. I ave a staphie rescue page on my facebook, once i have called the vets i will email them to let them know-they should have someone local who can foster hopefully!
Thanks, dee sa. I would need to take my two dogs to meet the new one to see how they got on. If it was close by, I would do that but I can't just bring a new dog home. Yes The Dog's Trust would have been better. I am on my third sponsor dog with them. The first one was rehomed, the second one died of old age and the third one is still around.
