I started watching it the other night but ended up watching a full episode of whatever happened to the likely lads on you tube, haven't laughed out loud so much in a while!

He doesn't spit, just gurgles in the back of his throat, which is family use as an early warning alarm that he is nearby.

Love the Astrakhan hat, the way his screen wife struggles not to laugh, the 'don't be a silly billy' catchphrase, the music, the ridiculousness of the whole thing.

I have given it time to grow on me but alas it has fallen on barren ground.Just not funny at all.Dont the cast realise how it comes across to an audience,crassly racist at times.They might have got away with it when TAINT HALF HOT was made but shirley not now.

In It Ain't Half Hot, Mum the wonderful Michael Bates was blacked up as Ragi Ram. I found that bit funny because he was born in India, spoke fluent Hindi and had a love of the country.

Nobody is blacked up in Citizen Khan, it is written and performed by British Muslims, sending themselves up and having the occasional dig at British society.

I think it is very clever how they have they have made their token white person, Dave, the mosque manager, reflecting the token roles ethnic minorities played in British programmes years ago, and indeed Midsomer Murders has been forced to write in to episodes now.

Mine was less a comment on the pros and cons of blacking up white actors than one of the vintage of the "comedy" and the way it seems to be made by theatre actors who've forgotten that the microphone has been invented and there's no need to project to the gods.
It's amateur dramatics at best.

Oh well, to return to your original question I'd have to answer no, you and combustible enjoy it.
We like what we like, it's why so many different programmes are made, enjoy. :)
