I cannot believe the writer of Series 1 also wrote 2 and 3. I have so wanted to continue liking it but it's very poor quality now....and frankly boring. Donchathink?

I don't think it's at all boring but some of it is a bit unbelievable. For example Lord Grantham would not have invested all Cora's money in one Canadian Railway line, he would have had a portfolio, surely and they wouldn't have left the oven smoking for a whole week before a grand dinner party. Where did those cooked chickens come from?
Maggie Smith is wonderful. Her facial expression, when being awoken by the singing Shirley, was a masterclass of acting.

Am I the only man who enjoys watching Downton Abbey with his wife? I don't know any other male who likes it or at least admits to liking it. why is it considered by some men to be somehow un-masculine to watch period dramas?

I like it, and as others have said it's streets ahead of much of what's on offer. I like the characters, you can sympathise with them, which is more than i can say with many dramas.

we cannot watch it at viewing time,we tape it,so we can watch it together later.

the previous episode is repeated around 6pm on sunday, perhaps that is clearer. I missed some of the first episode, so watched the rest early sunday, then watched 2nd episode at 9pm sunday.
