How can we stop the BBC showing TV clips of Jimmy Savile.
An e-mail to the BBC complaints department has achieved nothing.

What's the context? if its in the news then IMO its only like showing clips of Hitler or any other mass murderer. For the benefit of hearing impaired viewers, images do m=need to be shown so that they can understand what is being discussed.

This is kind of unstoppable. It is showbusiness and a celebrity and young people and sex. Some people like this reading about this kind of stuff. Like you I am sick to death of seeing the same pix of him appearing everywhere, but for a while it is going to continue ..... despite your email to BBC complaints department. It is a quiet month news wise. I had a sun reporter call on me unannounced recently because I once knew this monster. It is news unfortunately.

this awful man is at the centre of a horrific case, which will be news for a long time to come. Abuse of power, of sexual predatory behaviour, and the rape and assault of many, why would it not be in the news. Allied to the fact that some believe there were people that he worked with or knew about his behaviour, so the BBC will come under the spotlight, as well as other institutions he had dealings with.

If the news channels were just to show a stills photo of him in the background, then fair enough, but why do they have to show lots of different photo's and even video clips of him? It's all for sensationalism. (I think that's the right word)

I'd like to stop seeing pictures of 'celebrities' but that seems damn unlikely. Jimmy Savile and the abuse he committed is a big news story and will continue for a long time. Pictures are used to illustrate a point.

newspapers show still photos, TV shows moving clips wherever possible. It's not just Savile, it's any story. Why have TV if all you can do is the same as a newspaper?
