what a waste of two excellent actors, the canned laughter was dreadful. they took 'campness' to a whole new level ( ie the gutter )............
there was some good observational moments, but i am not sure how the two leads can really progress with it, after all if it's more of the same, who is going to bother.
I quite liked Job Lot, but Vicious was really disappointing. It was all too broad, too loud, too pantomine. If the Director had wound them back as far as they would go you might have found that with tweaks the script would be full of pathos and dark irony, as it was I just thought it was something to have on in the background and have a laugh at some stereotypically vicious old gay luvvies. My Mum said ' Well that's the easiest gig Iain McKellern's ever had- he's just playing himself.' Hope it improves:(
The two leads certainly seemed to be enjoying their roles. I'll give it a go again next week only because I'm curious to see how they can string it out
job lot..... was ok, nothing special though.
I watched for about 15 minutes and then switched it off. I read somewhere that it was going to be something like 'The Golden Girls', which I loved, so I was looking forward to it - but it wasn't. Not clever, not funny. I won't be watching again.
they are both playing themselves, shame really as i think it could be good. Give me Quentin Crisp any day, an acerbic wit and acid tongue, far funnier, i know he is dead, but don't reckon the show is going to last more than one series...
i turned over to watch a master at work, Dave Allen, a class act
I agree with you EM. I've recorded Dave Allen. No doubt whatsoever that'll be worth watching.
Dave Allen, one of the greatest stand up comedians who ever lived, wry, funny, observational comedy at it's best, not to mention the poke in the eye to religion, and in particular Catholicism
Tried watcing Vicious but had to switch off about half way through. Excellent actors but over the top and a very disappointing script. Shame.
it had amazing reviews in the paper, were they watching the same programme i wonder.
Maybe the reviews were written in deference to the distinguished actors. It happens.
I have to agree with the majority here who didn't like the programme, I thought it was well OTT and over acted IMO....shame really as I thought it might be something quite different and a good laugh.
"I'm an atheist. Thank God"

Loved him.
oh its the patient. how are you ? excuse me maggie.
I too switched off after 30 seconds - had too much of the cringeworthy factor. I was embarrassed to watch it.
I have to say that Sir Derek Jacobi has turned into the most beautiful old man
Disappointed with Vicious.
