I had Freesat but overall IMO Freeview is better as it's easier to access.

Not sure what you will miss about Sky+ that Freeview doesn't offer. Most digital recorders do much the same job, for a fraction of the cost. I have TalkTalk and their MyView box and service offers recording, pausing and rewinding, and also provides access to catchup and on demand services through the programme guide. It may be the same as the one from BT. It was provided free, and my bills actually went down when I took it. I think they do this in the hope that you will buy premium services such as on demand, but there is no obligation.
