Doctor Who........'the Day Of The Doctor"

So......what did everyone think of tonights episode?.....

Me i loved it because we saw a bit of my old favourite doctor (Tom Baker) and my new favourite (Matt Smith)

oh and what about the bit at the end?.......bit of a story changer there! :)

i liked it :) i'm not very good at keeping up with storylines though - how does it change things, he wills till travel, he'll just be looking for gallifrey now as well?

I always thought the Daleks were rubbish. You only had to run upstairs to get away from them !

I don't know if the "Elizabeth I fawning all over him like some scarlet woman" bit was all that brilliant. I also really wish Christopher Eccleston has has a larger part than essentially some teasers e.g. the regeneration into him at the end. But I enjoyed seeing David Tennant again, and I'll bet those fans from yesteryear will have enjoyed seeing Tom Baker returning briefly too!

Well it might have been my imagination but it looked like he was morphing into Eccleston, so it was there to establish continuity with the new series.

The whole thing was about John Hurt's doctor... to set it up you need to see the prequel "Night of the Doctor" really.

Yes i will have to watch again to "Get" all the little bits too :)
and yes its a shame we didnt see more of Christopher Eccleston but from what i have read he was asked to do it but turned it down because he doesn't want anything more to do with dr who :(

and yes its a bit of a story changer with the Gallifre thing!

The War Doctor (John Hurt) was a kind of special, one-off regeneration performed by the 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) - He felt a warrior was required, one who could perform the unthinkable and kill Dalek and Time Lord alike. Once the War Doctors role was done, he would have regenerated into the 9th Doctor, chronologically speaking.

So was "the night of the doctor" produced recently, or was it from the Paul Mcgann episode from years ago?

It was produced this year as adeliberate prequel to set up John Hurt's character and role and in that sense it performs the bridge between old Doctors and new.

@ bedknobs - I can only say "its complicated" ;) Having the "war doctor" kind of resets the whole chronology of the later doctors ;)

There was a mini episode on BBC red button which showed how the Paul McGann Doctor regenerated into the John Hurt Doctor
