Only part of it is uncovered.

Been to Xian too, having lived in Shanghai.

There's an even older and less discovered site in S.Korea, Kwong-Ju, the centre for the Silla Dynasty, and a World Heritage place, only 10% or so unearthed and amazing too.

At least it's better than what they did in S China. In the centre of Guangzhou, there's a museum and the tombs to a past imperial personage - where the big-wig was buried with all his lackeys, the entrance to the tomb sealed in after the funeral......one way of assuring that your own crew don't nail you in your life!

Yep....it must be pretty effective, the only way out to transfer your allegiance and stay one step (of the tomb) ahead.

The ones I saw were life size or very nearly so !

This subject will make a nice study for the winter months methinks.
I love it when something just grabs your attention, and you want to learn more.
The last time something interested me like this, was Shaka Zulu, and his tribes and traditions.,

Outer ones are smaller, the main ones in the 'pavilions' are larger and close to life size, given that the average height was smaller back then. As Minty said, the horses are amazing, the detail in their bridles and armoury incredible.
