Watching again, life sized they say.
If you missed this thread, ferlew, take a look at this site, particularly if you like anthropological/tribal issues .....truly amazing. I know Jimmy very well (was one of his project sponsors in the past).

Ferlew, if you ever get the chance to watch a Chinese film called "Red Cliff" you might like to take a peek. It is very long (2 dvds!) and is subtitled but it gives an insight into the way Chinese society was back in ancient times
I saw it first on Film Four and subsequently bought the dvd. The scenes they are showing now are slightly similar to the battle scenes in the film.
I just thought it might interest you.

Ta Nungate, that can go on my wishlist, and thanks DTC, I will investigate.
I love anything anthropological.
Well, if you fancy the dvds can I tell you I paid well under a fiver for mine?
(I got them from Amazon) The discs plus p&p was barely £5 - for hours watching!
Question Author
Cheap at half the price Nungate.

(What a silly saying that is.)
How true!
Question Author
£1.51 Nungate :)
There you go! You couldn't buy a cup of coffee for that! (well not on our High Street anyway!
You going to indulge yourself then? If you do set aside a long afternoon (or two) to watch it.
Question Author
Already have :)
Will watch when Mr F has an early night.
He might need a few of those! I finished watching mine on a Sunday morning. It is a very long film, but interesting (and bloody) think Gone with the Wind but longer ... Let me know what you think. I didn't see the entire film on Film four which prompted me to buy the dvd, the bit I saw was enough to pique my interest and then I spotted on Amazon dvd's under £5 - the good films (some really old) I've found on there is incredible, but I love old films and foreign language films so I've been like a pig in .... glory! Still have a few oldies I want to get my hands on
Question Author
Blimey, £1.51 INCLUDING postage. 0.25 plus £1.26 post.
That's less than I paid!!
ferlew - on a point of order - In Egypt there were no human sacrifices.

In fact it occurred once in Philae late I think
and everyone was so horrified
that it was agreed that it wasnt a sacrifice to Isis
but was done sudduv near her.
Question Author
