Problem With Bt Email
26 Answers
My email address is @binternet.com. I used to have to sign in every two weeks or so, but now i have to sign in every time I switch the computer on. I rang BT a few days ago and was told there is a problem that they are trying to rectify. At least I think that's what the lady said- I have an idea the helpline is based in India.
No-one else has posted that they are having problems, so is it just me? BT have changed something on email as it used to come through Yahoo but doesn't now I think.
Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

Everyone with a btinternet. com email address, me included, has moaned about the inability for the new email system to remember your log in details. The problem has been raised many times in the BT Care Community Forum. This is their reply:- https:// community. bt. com/ t5/ Other- BB- Queries/ The- new- BT- home- page/ td- p/ 1100696

It's a bit of a pain in the butt, helly - I have to sign in to email every time and it doesn't remember who I am, at all. I have to sign in again too when the security feature logs me out if I haven't used it for half an hour or so.... It all changed when it moved from the Yahoo site to the main BT one.
Same as on your earlier thread about this, helly http:// www.the answerb ank.co. uk/Tech nology/ Questio n130581 1.html
and yes, the BT helpline is in India, I have to ring there if I have problems with my Broadband.

I am having probs too since you have to get email from their home page, the email link does not work for me, always get the 'temporary problem' msg......have been on helpline several times but after being in queue for over half hour one time I gave up.......been told you can sign in at mail.yahoo.com but that does not work for me now. Their tech help said the prob was my browser, chrome, but I have no probs with any other sites but I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but still have same probs. I told them that i have no probs getting my emails on my android tablet.
Their latest reply to my complaining emails which I send each time I cannot access my emails on my laptop is that they are working on the problem.
All I can say is that their idea of temporary and mine are completely different and when they finally get their butts into gear I will ask for, and not rest till I get, agood rebate on my bt bill, or else I will end my contract with them as they are breaking the contract by not supplying what I contracted for......
Rant over......am off to lie down in a darkened room.....lol

Alice - how did you find a contact to email them? I searched BT's site and couldn't see one.
I'm on Chrome too, I wonder if that's anything to do with it.
If I change to, say, Hotmail or something else, I assume I would have to change my email address and that would be really inconvenient and would mean contacting so many sites that I'm connected with
Thanks for the replies everyone, I did begin to think it was my computer.

Would love 2 know what reply you get.....because I am now positive that the prob is with bt and not with chrome, which I think is heaps better than ie

There is an on-going problem with accessing my BT Email account from within CHROME. I can bring up my emails but I can't do anything with them, like read or delete. This was supposed to be because of a conflict with YAHOO and CHROME, but that can't be true as BT Email doesn't have anything to do with YAHOO any longer. So I still have to use IE for emails.
I don't think its too much of a problem to sign in each time, as this has to be safer.
