it annoys me when reporters say the river has "burst" its banks ,WRONG the"rivers" have "breached thier banks, a burst it was happened to the levy in new Orleans,
Can't agree with that grumpy, they're doing a job and hopefully without bias in any way, I guess it's everyone's interpretation of how things look, I don't think they are "enjoying" what is happening.
The silly expressions used by weather forecasters beggar belief:
'We are trying to bring you some sunshine today'..... how?
'wall to wall sunshine' ............................................. there are walls?
'showers are pushing east' ......................................pushing it where?
'there is a chance of rain' .........................................isn't there always?
The forecast earler today was supposed to be given by Sarah, Keith and Lucas but only Sarah turned up; the other two can't even be bothered to show up for the bbc photo http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/about/19117155
lol...it doesn't matter how they phrase it, nine times out of ten recently they've been wrong. They can't even get the current weather correct...haven't they got windows?
Accuweather often forecasts 'spotty showers' which makes me think of coachloads of students. :)
(apologies if you're a student and not spotty)
More annoying things: talking down to listeners/viewers, as in "spits and spots", "if you're out and about", "grey and grizzly" and "30mm. of rain - that's about an inch"....as if people need to be told EVERY single time.
