You couldn't move for them in the 70s, but without resorting to Wikipedia, I would be hard-pressed to name a single successful one right now.

This stems from the ongoing Andrew Lawrence / Nigel Farage / Frankie Boyle spat:

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/lee-kern/nigel-farage-andrew-lawrence_b_6082256.html

Andrew Lawrence (a comedian whose work I am not familiar with) states:

The reason there are no right-leaning comics in this country is because whenever one has the balls to stand-up, they become the target of a witch-hunt. Where there should be balance, there is, terrifyingly, censorship.

Can there REALLY be some sort of conspiracy to keep right wing comedians off of all UK tv channels? I could have believed that back when we only had four channels - but right now, we have 480 (or more)!

Could it be that 'right wing humour' is the world's biggest oxymoron?

Probably. Where there is right wing there is usually something with 'moron' in it somewhere :)
They're all in government.

Now now kvalidir - I'm very proud of my use of oxymoron, and frown on its misappropriation.

;-)
It may be that 'right wing humour' is defined by how far to the left the observer is and most of those most sinister have died out leaving us with just 'humour'.
lol @ janbee !
I started to read the article but it soon became obvious that it was your typical left wing bias we have come to expect complete with their usual expletives, can't they put up an argument without the use of such words as these?

/// whinging, whining, self-pitying, intellectually frightened milksops going. ///

/// the pied piper of *** ///

/// lily-livered doormats ///

/// *** brigade ///

And those were in the first paragraph of fifty words.

All so well educated these left-wingers.

Okay...I will dig out Andrew Lawrence's original piece.

I suspect it will be much more to your liking.

A left-wing bigot and a fool, to boot. Does anyone 'like' his style?

Who?

Frankie Boyle?

Apparently he's very popular, but not my cup of tea.

Broadening this out a bit...why don't we ever hear complaints from Lib/Lab/Con when their ministers are torn apart on shows like Mock The Week, 8 Out of Ten Cats and Have I Got News For You...but the moment anyone makes fun of the Kippers, they all pop down to Armani to buy the latest in their range of hair shirts?

I can only see that if I log on. I refuse to join any club that would consent to having me as a member.
The thick illiterate who spewed that bile out in the Huff.
You, sp, need to get your (pretty) little head out of all these left-wing blogs, twitter feeds, face-book pages, etc. You are developing a very narrow, skewed outlook on things. Broaden your horizons and you'll be a much happier little chap.
>>>You couldn't move for them in the 70s,

Who were the right wing comedians in the 70s?

Most comedians tend to be left wing / liberal as it is seen to be "cool".

Few comedians ever seem to admit to being right wing.

When Thatcher was in power all comedians made jokes about her but I can remember a comedian ever making jokes in support of her or against labour or the "left wing".
From recent evidence there seems to to a surfeit of morons among the raving hand wringing lefties, most of them propping up the labour party....

Don't you find the prevalence of the Lefty comics ironic, Labour party out of ideas, out of the common touch and it's seems permanantly out of steam yet the one thing they do have is plenty of these lefty comics like that moron Boyle doing their work for them
I think your question and the first answer probably demonstrates what Andrew Lawrence (I haven't heard of him either) is talking about.
i don't know if you'd class them as right wing, but perhaps the Op was thinking of people like Jim davidson and bernard manning?
I find Frankie Boyle very funny. He certainly can't be classed as a moron.
maybe they are all like that Iraqi 'comedian' who's entire routine hinges around him being Iraqi. About as funny as the clap. Or Lenny Henry.
You're choice and viewpoint Ummm, most certainly not mine.
