The freeview boxes I buy tend to start going wrong after about two or three years -is this normal? My latest Humax has just started to close itself down and reload every five minutes or so, so far two nights a week. Tonight is a big night for recording programmes and I'm starting to fuss already! Has anyone had a box for a long time that they can recommend? One that I can record at least two channels on while watching a third...

If you are recording 2 programmes on Humax you can watch a 3rd on Freeview.

Thank you Jomlett, I know that, that's what I do now. I was looking for recommendations for a replacement box as mine has started to go to pot after two years...
Humax has a good name for reliability so I'd try a reboot. The next big thing for Freeview is Freeview Play for Catchup TV.
I have bought 2 Humax machines old one still working fine!
We bought the Humax with youview approximately 15 months ago and I had it replaced a couple of days ago as I took out 5 year guarantee.
I would try contacting Humax as I would say that 2 years in my opinion is not a reasonable time.

Thank you - I have re-booted and re-tuned. I hadn't even thought about asking for a replacement! I'll have the receipt and guarantee somewhere and will fish it out tonight. If the Freeview Play for catch up tv involves a computer attached to a tele, I'm trying to avoid that for as along as I can... x
I didn't realise that Jomlett. That would also be true of Sky then, would it? record 2 on sky, and watch one on freeview?
For the future I bought mine from Richer Sounds and the guarantees are very reasonable that is why I took it as I wouldn't normally buy any guarantee.
No computer needed for Freeview Play as its all in the EPG but only on future tellys...
