Childrens book title or author!

Does anyone know of a childrens book about a girl who, when left alone in her house looked through the wrong end of her fathers telescope and got transported to another world. In this world I seem to remember there being a short man with four arms wearing an orange fur coat and a wannabe superhero who wore green tights. The girl made friends with these characters who helped her to get home. There was also a part where they were trapped in a pyramid and to get out they had to give the man who owned the pyramid, a lymeric he couldn't say. I don't know the author or the title so either would help a lot!

I don't know whether anybody has sent an answer yet, but the book sounds like Sophie's World by Terry Nation.

A thoroughly excellent book, it is now long out of print, I fear.

Please ignore my post about the book being called Sophie's World. I was getting my 'worlds' confused!

The correct title is, I think, Rebecca's World. If 'Mister Glister' or 'ghost wood' mean anything to you, you're home and dry.
