part three of a live watch over a sea haven off coast of California...huge blue whale appeared among a load of hump backs....fantastic sight..get it on iplayer BBC1

the programme I did not see, however, a 'bucket list' item for those who have not done it, minty, is to go to the Monterrey aquarium. Not only is it one of the best in the world for its collection, it's a tremendous watching post for whales blowing out in the bay.....(the golf courses nearby ain't bad either).

It's amazing, minty, and that's without being out on a boat...... Even off Pebble Beach, you can see them.

this place too, one can often see them in the ocean below, about 20 miles south of Pebble Beach and Carmel.....and hanging over the cliffs....
