Watching itv 4 have watched Tommy cooper was he just not funny or did his shows not age well .

He was so funny. When he came on stage he didn't have to speak or do anything. We just laughed! Perhaps it's a question of how times change.

Found the same with some of Morecombe and Wise. Loved them as a child but I sometimes can watch for half an hour without laughing but not always.

He was brilliant but I think you needed to know him and his style to appreciate his humour, not for everybody I know.

One of the most UN funny people I have seen on TV, along with Benny Hill, and that horrid little man, Arthur Askey.

I was a great fan of Tommy Cooper and turned over tonight to watch his show. But this programme didn't show his talent, I only watched it for about two minutes before turning it off.

ITV at that time did not know how to produce top quality comedy programmes. Morecambe and Wise suffered the same fate when they went over to ITV.

Comedy is one of the most divisive art forms.

I fall into the 'not funny' camp with TC, and frankly, with a couple of exceptions, any modern comedians, even the hugely successful ones make me cringe.

All a matter of humour, and what you see as funny.

Back in the day he was 'modern' same happens with music... etc.. it is an era age type thing. I still find Tommy cooper funny though and the two Ronnies when I see re-runs etc... too many to name of the 'modern' day unfunny comics.
