According to Anne Widdecombe in the Daily Express the BBC has decided the parade of British Legion flags will not be shown at the above Festival. What gives them the right. It is a tradition and a complete insult. Appalling.

If you read this carefully, you will see that is was The British Legion which made the suggestion - the BBC merely agreed to it.

I agree patsyann - the constant need to 'gussie things up', so that those with the attention span of a gnat don't get bored, is a curse.

Some things "are what they are" and should be left alone - tradition isn't necessarily boring, it has gravitas and meaning.
