Has anyone got bombarded by them already? Not too bad here at the moment, quite a few in the distance but a big display is on close to me later so expecting a lot of traffic build up and footfall. If the rain holds off I may pop outside later to watch the main display from the back garden.

Had one lone one go off right by me the other night, must have jumped about three foot off the sofa it was so loud!

Hoping for as quiet as possible a night for all those with pets who don't like fireworks.

A few dull thuds in the distance but nothing much here.
Not really. Just one that made me jump out my skin. It was unexpected.

My cats aren't bothered by them....luckily.
No and unlikely too either tonight - don't know about all of you but has and still is hammering it down all day here in the South.

That's lucky, glad they aren't bothered by them, must be awful for those with pets who are.

That's what got me about the one the other night, just a single ridiculously loud explosion!

I'm wondering if the weather will put some private displays off.

I'm in a very densely populated part of Manchester so expecting things to get very loud later on!

It has been raining here today on and off but it's meant to clear up. I'm glad to be in and warm after getting wet coming home from work.
Lewes is expecting 60,000 people tonight for their display. Shame about the rain but it's going ahead apparently.
No fireworks here yet, but it is raining. We have had some for the last few nights though, even on Halloween.
And now you said this they have started. One cat is fast asleep and the other is sitting at the window watching.
Yes - have got my tin hat on here, very loud and very close.

Lots going off here now too, taking advantage of a break in the rain probably and for little ones out. Some lovely big high ones when I've been watching out the back door for a bit.
Sounds like the Somme battlefield in my neck of the woods.
Really loud here in Hove, been going on for hour and a half. A display in one of the parks nearby possibly. Dog under the table with his Thunder Shirt on but OK.
Fireworks are obviously exciting for little kids to watch - and also exciting for the big kids who set them off

About time this outdated 'tradition' was stopped
It's like the Royal Artillery softening up barrage for the 1st July Battle of the Somme around here. Jack Johnson, Whizzbangs and Coal Scuttles. You name it!! :-)

Dare we ask who the effigy represents? :-)

My reply was to Retrocop.
Retro I was trying to ignore Mamy's link. Jeremy Clarkson is going to set fire to it so I heard.
