I happened upon the site in 2006 - since then i don't recall the site having a make over / spruce up .
I think to keep it fresh, going forward ( i hate that phrase - i can't believe iv'e used it ) it could do with a bit of a freshen up .
Colours / format , just a couple of suggestions

Apart from that, some Laura Ashley wallpaper would look fresh and modern.

//If it ain't broke!! //
that's relative. for me it's broken and has been for a long time, because i'm stuck with the windows browser and it doesn't take kindly to ABs incredibly invasive in yoyr face badly written long running scripted adverts, which crash my sessions every few minutes. we've been promised a fix but there's no sign yet. :-(

The colours are part of the AB brand and should not be changed.
A responsive design version is urgently needed. The mobile version (was ot ever finished?) is broken in a lot of ways.
With mobile taking over from the desktop in browsing habits, your current design is No longer fit for purpose. A lot of the links are too close to each other for touch devices and leads to many wrong hits.
Also I worry about privacy on this site. There are far too many trackers and hidden ware that slows the site down, and leads to numerous loading glitches for users.
