Hi Again,
As my original bulletin disappeared I might repeat myself so bear with me and my memory.
I think I mentioned the fiasco with the Arrythmic Nurse who told me my cardio version would have to be delayed for up to 4 weeks because she didn't believe my rioxaban was taken correctly by me. I later got a date at St Helier for a pre op assessment for the version on 1-3 and the actual procedure date on the 4th March ???
The Vascular clinic sister then rang me about 6.30 pm.
The Professor and team all agree there is cause for concern and the matter should be expedited asap. The aorta is ballooning (aneurism) where the Dacron by- pass ,which replaced my clogged aorta and the join. The aneurism is growing quicker than they are happy about. From day it is discovered it was esimated I would have nine years growth rate before action need be taken. As this was discovered 2 years ago when It was accidentally found when my cancer investigations were under way it means it has grown in 2 years rather than 9. If it goes pop I have 3 minutes left on AB to try to equal danny's BA tally. :-).
I now have to go back very soon to discuss the procedure with the consultant at St Georges. I guess within the end of next week.
Of course I don't make things easy for myself or them. They cannot insert a stent via open chest surgery because I still have the tram line on my chest from the original aortic by-pass nine years ago and the more recent tramline for my colon cancer operation about 2 years ago.
They have to do keyhole surgery, which is less invasive, through my groin.
Problem there is I had two bi femoral grafts at the same aorta bypass operation so have two Dacron artificial femoral arteries. I am bionic.
This makes it a little more tricky for them and they will have to cut and insert high up into my groin to avoid the Dacron.
I hope the surgeon has a really steady hand because his knife will very near to the old man and if he slips I could wake up in ITU singing in Hebrew :-).
I was cheerfully told by the nurse they have done a few before. I said,"what with patients that have hearts jumping all over the place to a beat of it's own?" She advised me that perhaps I might mention it at my next consultation. I think I just might.!!
Two operations before the first quarter of the year. Oh joy. The saga continues on the next update. :-) Now must try and rack up some BA's on crosswords.
