EDDIE51
I thought the Bill was a very good series and close to home in many respects.
'The Bill' studio/nick was filmed in Merton Industrial Estate near Merton Abbey Mills. Many of the outside scenes were filmed in my local area. A fatal accident and fail to stop was filmed in Churchill Rd, Sutton. Stoneleigh Broadway and A24 London Road were also used.
My wife,a nurse at Queen Mary's Roehampton was invited to come in one Saturday to be an extra. Her O.P. unit would normally closed so the Bill producer's filmed it as a Casualty Dept for one episode. She was seen coming out of a room and walking away from the camera shot.
One of my colleagues in the Special Escort Group had Eric Richard ( P.S. Bob Cryer? as his neighbour in North London. Eric was a very keen motorcyclist and permission was sought for him to spend a day with us at our unit. I had just got back to our unit having returned from 'a job'. Having divested myself of kit I went into our crew/rest room to make a cuppa. Eric was having an answer/question discussion with the lads. I entered just as one colleague asked," Who is your police advisor on the series. You get even the minutest details spot on?".
I was wearing a V neck 'wooly pully' and in relaxation mode I pulled the clip on tie from the collar and let it dangle forward through the V and opened my top shirt button.
Eric said,"Most of us get invited to nicks as I am here. We,in the cast, look out for ourselves for small details and take them back to the series with us. For instance. I just watched our friend here pull his tie off and leave it over his v neck.Watch out for a canteen episode at Sun Hill. You could well see that appear."
I never saw that little gem appear on future episodes. :-( It was an excellent series EDDIE51. I don't know how I forgot to mention it.
