Is there anyone else who finds the program totally over the top and embarrassing ? Its makes me cringe when they are interviewing these sports stars with stupid questions. You can tell most of them would rather be at home. It wasn't so bad when they were just in a television studio with a few attending but now it's just so big out of all proportion to what it's...

I voted for him. Yes, there were other sportspeople who were just as deserving, but he got the most votes from the public.
I suppose it might have something to do with the sport involved. We don't often see dressage and cycling on mainstream TV, whereas everyone knows about Wimbledon and his great achievements there.

Oh lordy, I was wondering when the "personality" thing was going to come up. It always does.
He has a great personality. He might look awkward while trying to pose with trophies, and he's acknowledged that he has a very boring voice so doesn't sound excited, when he actually is.
What does he have to do? Walk on court telling jokes?

Melv, that's rubbish. I am crazy about tennis. I also love cricket and athletics. I love the Olympics and Paralympics and watch everything I can, especially rowing, cycling, swimming and gymnastics.
I hate golf and football. Some people seem to think that if you don't like football you don't like sport.

>But the BBC's politically correct short-list definitely did not help matters
Can you expand on that please NJ? I think it's right that they have a shortlist or it becomes unwieldy and the votes could get spread very thinly. I can't think of many who should have been on it but weren't or many who were but shouldn't. Do you mean PC as in colour, parts of country, disabilities, range of sport, etc?
