Well, for me,nothing could ever be as scary as Psycho (1960) I was just 13 and shouldn't have watched it in the cinema(how I got in is anyone's guess)I literally didn't sleep for the whole weekend.
Hitchcock was a genius.
Someone once asked him "Mr Hitchcock when are you going to make a comedy film?" Hitch answered "I thought ALL my films were comedies!"
I saw, this back in 1974, in a Sheffield cinema where they'd installed massive low-frequency speakers, so that the seats actually shook at the dramatic moments:

A guy had actually died of a heart attack during a screening in that cinema just a few days before!
Buenchico)(et al)~
The "blood" in Psycho was chocolate syrup.
Hitchcock tried all sorts of things, including pig blood, but they washed away too easily. The chocolate syrup was sticky and moved at just the speed that Hitch wanted.
The incredible thing about that scene, OB, is that the viewer doesn't actually see any violence at all. It proves that what's in someone's imagination can often be far more frightening than reality!
Does anyone else here think that Spielberg's 'Duel' is really frightening in places? I find it amazing that such a good film was made for TV, rather than for cinematic release.
