He was one of the funniest cast members.

Yes. I did a crossword yesterday and the clue was, which son has resigned from MBB. The actor who played Rory fitted the clue. So I googled him and yes he has, going on to other things.

The chap that plays the good son the one that was going to Australia played Rory before Rory played it, so he'll be slipping back into the role and Brendan is thinking of writing that Rory's gone for a facelift and a new rory will be brought in

He might find have been finding it difficult fitting in because he's not a (real-life) family member, as many other cast members are:

Buster Brown (Danny O'Carroll ) is played by Brendan O'Carroll's son.
Maria Brown (Fiona O'Carroll) is played by his daughter.
Winnie McGoogan (Eilish O'Carroll) is played his sister.
Cathy Brown (Jennifer Gibney) is played by his wife.
Bono Brown (Jamie O’Carroll) is played by his grandson.
Betty Brown (Amanda Woods) is played by his daughter-in-law.
Trevor Brown (Martin Delany) is played by his son-in-law.
Dermot Brown (Paddy Houlihan) isn't a family member but he's Danny O'Carroll's best friend.

With the natural closeness of that family grouping, Rory Cowan might well have felt like an outsider for much of his time with the cast.

Well I did not know that!!!! I only knew Cathy was his real life wife.

Rory Cowan has been with Mrs Brown's Boys for 26 years - the original Rory was based on him, when he was their publicist.
I do know his mother was very ill last year whilst MBB was touring Australia and Rory was very upset that he couldn't get home to see her.
He says he is fed up with the touring.

If Mark is to be the new Rory what will happen to Betty and the baby? Will she notice her husband has disappeared and reappeared as the hairdresser?
