I had a very dear Aunt & Uncle who were cousins and married. They had a long and successful marriage and raised four children together.
I have always understood that if first cousins marry, there is a much higher risk of their children having medical problems. There was something on tv not too long ago about Indian families who have this tradition having children with problems. I suppose those whose children don't have problems are very lucky.
