just had the pleasure of watching episode 2.

imo, utter tripe.

Canned laughter no doubt and am not surprised about that.

However, if it floats yer boat, then fine.

Amy thoughts on Ep 2?

It floats my boat :0)
I'm sure Amy would agree with me ... utter garbage (and I didn't even watch it)
I think the script is pretty good alba. I think the all the new characters follow on really well. Any new remake takes a few episodes to settle in,though I love it already.
That was then, this is now. I watched all the episodes back to back.
Haven't watched and never will. How could you ever top Ronnie Barker, Richard Beckinsale et al. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

if our tastes were all the same, it'd be a boring world.

I just found the cast 'acting', which isn't a good description. I mean, I know they are actors but found the whole thing forced.
Only watched 10 minutes, would rather spend a week in Nik, than watch it again.

Why do they bring back theses shows, that were so popular years ago, it never works IMO.

I only saw a clip. Looked dire. Some things are best left alone
Awful, switched over thinking it was the original.

Why do they do this, can they really think of nothing new?

Or have the BBC run out of money dues to paying some people far too much?
Question Author
ymg. I think that too. Lots of companies have run out of ideas and try to rehash successful previous shows/films
I imagine they thought the writers of a highly popular series still had some ideas in them, as I said on the linked thread Kevin took the role with trepidation fearing people wouldn't help but compare.
Well of course they would compare.

And he is rubbish in comparison in just the same way Elvis 'copiers' are. This sort of thing rarely works always best left as was and move on.
But he isn't copying, he's Nigel not Norman.
yeah, ok.
It's half hour filler, I'm sure they'll be off making a multi million pound costume drama again soon.
Question Author
Talbot, it's not a repeat, it's a re-make and Nigel isn't in Slade.

Who on earth can see 2 characters 're-making' 4 candles?

Now, that would be sacrilege...
## Ofcom tells the BBC: stop showing so many old films and daytime repeats ##

They should have a word with Ch5 as well, they are the worst offenders for repeats, and films, mostly Canadian made for about £100 in the afternoon.
