(Originally saw this in the FT, was first non-paywalled link I could find).
The European Commission has thrown its weight behind the UK government in opposition to the proposed US tariffs on Bombardier's jets, arguing that "there is no legal basis to impose definitive duties."
Interesting move. Do you think this is being done purely in line with their obligations re: UK as an existing member state, or (more cynically) have the Commission perhaps been discreetly promised something in exchange for their support?

Boeing have protested that they face unfair competition from Bombardier because of the support received in grants and Government aid. Bombardier acquired Short Bros. Aircraft makers of Belfast in 1998.
