I will probably be making enemies on AB BUT I must voice my opinion. Once again the time has come to object to the BBC devoting BBC 1 to the worship of FOOTBALL. Why can there not be a special sport programme to show the 'religion' so that we can have the ability to watch our normal programmes ?.

Agree with you 100% Ron it's a joke and that includes ITV.
That would make far more sense. I hardly watch tv, but I don't see why everything should be disrupted.
trouble is i couldn't find much worth watching before the football started
Not a football fan either Ron, but I don't watch much TV either x
I bet the viewing figures are up though
I agree with aelmpve and kvalidir. There was nothing much worth watching on TV before the football started, so I couldn't care less if they show football. I prefer reading and doing puzzles and watching dvds.

You could never make an enemy of me Ron :-) but I must say I rather like it at the moment: I can watch Argentina v Croatia instead of the One Show. That’s what I call a ‘result’

Thank you for your answers, especially ichkeria, surely the BBC could easily transfer ALL sport to a separate channel I do not see a problem with that.
I agree totally ..... the trouble is that this will continue even when any uk related team have been knocked out..... specialist channel solely dedicated to football would be brilliant!
Wait till Wimbledon starts soon on bbc ...8 hrs a day on both channels
Ideally I agree, although really it’s not on THAT much. On some days the Beeb only has one game, and the timings are such that only the 7pm ko time really eats into peak viewing.
I totally agree with you whiskeyron. I know they go on and on about ratings and that 18 million watched the England game but surely, 18 million would have watched it on BBC4.

Football fans will watch whatever channel they decide to use so, why lumber the non-football fans with the disruption to their normal viewing.
My mum used to say the same about horse racing on Channel 4. She'd get most upset when it kicked Countdown off the schedule.
I'm often curious when i read and hear people saying there is nothing on the TV to watch , when there are scores of channels

What would you like to watch , that's not anywhere on the TV ?

We have the best part of 200 Channels and because decent programmes are spread so thinly between them it is often hard to find something worth watching.
Quality not quantity Perleaseeeee!
our normal progz like Dr Who and my little pony ?
// My mum used to say the same about horse racing on Channel 4. She'd get most upset when it kicked Countdown off the schedule.//

most complained about prog runner up was Fanny Craddock who was helping a farmers wife do a lunch for Edward Heath (yes back then)
Jesus the Devon farmer himself was 'sarlid'
and she said no to every calory filled mouthful

and the most complained about coming in at 86000 complaints
was the interruption of Antiques Roadshow to show Nelson mandela being released

easily could have waited - as my mother said and was one of the 86k
Football, the menace of the ages. How intelligent people can admit to supporting clubs which are simply moneymaking businesses defies common sense.
It's not so much that there's nothing on TV I want to watch, it's just that it's not on BBC 1 or ITV 1 at the moment Bazile. So I don't care if they show the World Cup football. I don't watch a lot of TV anyway, but I do enjoy some of the programs on BBC4, the Drama channel etc. And I like Father Brown and Shakespeare & Hathaway on BBC1 but, of course they are not on in the summer.
Hardly devoted to worship. Got BBC1 on now, and Gloria Hunniford's not mentioned football at all.
