At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, grumpy, thus rubbish will last as long as you and others like you continue to watch. Decent viewing figures mean that the writers believe it's audience like these daft plots. They don't understand that there are some who just cannot bear to be without their almost daily fix of Emmerdale, Corrie and Eastenders. I used to be such a person but it's Channel 4 news for me at 7 every evening nowadays.

Maybe, mm, but it could also be a sign that there are too many of us who cannot bear it if that square thing in the corner of the room (or taking pride of place on the wall) isn't talking to us 24/7. I don't switch mine on until 7pm and i find it a good time to catch up with what's been happening via Channel 4 News while eating my evening meal.

I would hope, grumpy, that the Rebecca story won't rumble on for much longer. When she is rescued, I'm going to stop watching.

A prime example why 'diversity' doesn't always work.

Minty, one of the best detectives in my force was a female DI.
