I've just watched American Psycho for the 2nd time on DVD and I'm just as confused with ending as the 1st time I watched it!!! Can someone help me out please?

I read a review of it on Amazon and they suggested that Patrick Bateman was hallucinating all of the killings etc because his lif was supposedly so plain and sterile. What does everyone else think???

Hi alison, its been a while since I've seen it,like yourself, for the second time, but thats about what I took out of it. An halluncination. It was a great film, but I agree, you had to "reach" for the ending!
I believed it was all about the descent into psychosis.

no it's not!! it's because everyone one is trying to be the the best, that they all become alike, and everyone knows of people by reputation, but has no idea of what they look like.
Hi Alison,

The murders which Bateman confesses to towards the end of the film (when he speaks on the telephone, whilst being purused by the police at night) are all the murders which he actually committed in the book. In the film, we don't actually see him doing these things.

Further, if you need more information try Wikipedia (type it into a search engine and then type in the name of the film, when you get to the site itself) or try IMDB.com
