Good grief that was awful. I knew she would be irritating having watched her cringe worthy interviews pre Dr. Who but....? tonight's episode should have stunned, should have been yeh this is a good move'. No. Dr. Who should not be gender specific -it is an alien FFS, not a northern lass with a 'gob on'. So what will be her USP? A sonic tampon? god help the Daleks should they meet her 'at her time of the month' annihilation . Could be interesting.
We have been avid Dr' Who fans forever. First episode this series 4/10... could do better.
I read the OP and knew it was tongue in cheek and can't understand why some others didn't !! AL is as entitled to her opinion as anyone on here is and I can't understand some of the nastiness, par for the course on here I suppose. I personally do not like a female Dr. Who and couldn't care less what anybody thinks of that. Mind you I've not been a fan of Dr. Who for a while...
bainbrig could not agree more. Who on earth would allow a woman to drive a Tardis? They must be MAD! No wonder she's lost it! Probably parked it in Sainsbury's car park and forgotten where it is!
lol @ bainbrig. I enjoyed it. I thought it was a good rollicking starter story and am looking forward to seeing the character develop. Aunt L spouting that sonic tampon/time of the month rubbish is soooooo last century.
I'm just halfway through watching it on iPlayer. It's ok so far. Too tired to watch the rest now. Might finish it tomorrow but won't be in a massive hurry to.
I think it's fine with the Doctor being a woman. Why on Earth not?
Took me about 3 or 4 episodes to warm to Matt Smith and a few more with Peter Capaldi. Instantly took to Jodie Whittaker and thought the series opener was decent enough without being exceptional in any way. Perhaps, as Aunt Lydia does seem to have a problem with the lady Doc's 'Northenness', future episodes should be dubbed in Gallifreyan and sport sub-titles.
I thought she looked and sounded like Leanne from Coronation Street. Bradley Walsh seemed bemused and like he'd wandered in from some other programme. Maybe he was wondering if he was just a token white actor.
//Forgot woman don't have periods or use Tampons in 2018....silly me... //
no, they have hairy backs and penises. do keep up.....
given the graveyard slot scheduling I did wonder if the BBC might use the leaked plot devices of the crash of the tardis and the doctor's loss of identity to "update" the show's premise and turn it into a kind of virtue signalling northern soap for snowflakes.
