Good grief that was awful. I knew she would be irritating having watched her cringe worthy interviews pre Dr. Who but....? tonight's episode should have stunned, should have been yeh this is a good move'. No. Dr. Who should not be gender specific -it is an alien FFS, not a northern lass with a 'gob on'. So what will be her USP? A sonic tampon? god help the Daleks should they meet her 'at her time of the month' annihilation . Could be interesting. We have been avid Dr' Who fans forever. First episode this series 4/10... could do better.

I read the OP and knew it was tongue in cheek and can't understand why some others didn't !! AL is as entitled to her opinion as anyone on here is and I can't understand some of the nastiness, par for the course on here I suppose. I personally do not like a female Dr. Who and couldn't care less what anybody thinks of that. Mind you I've not been a fan of Dr. Who for a while...

"there was no need to feminise the role"

There is no need for a lot of things.. however, considering timelords can regenerate into women, the chances are kind of 50%..
and haven't they gone over the normal regeneration limit? Would make sense for 'him' to be a woman for once
Question Author
The regeneration limit was a rule enforced by the high counsel, not a biological limit.
"Dr. Who Another Victim Of 'equal Opportunities'?"

Just feels like ur slating the gender of the doc instead of the actor. Some of the male actors haven't been "great" but that's not because they're males, just like this lady isn't a bad actor because she's a woman. It may just not suit your 'idea' of the doctor!

Give it time she may grow on you. At start i didn't like matt smith but grew to enjoy it.

Bednobs That is good question. I think Dr. Who has been going slowly downhill with the change of writers and the lowering of the budget.

The budget must be lower than that of The Goodies... I've noted similar special effects.
God the long overdue AB backlash strikes with a vengeance
Ich it's the notion that the new Dr is bad because she's a woman, when in reality it's because AL doesn't like the specific actor.
William Hartnell. Hiding behind the couch when the first Dalek appeared.
Of course, it was a kid's show then and we didn't live in such enlightened times.
Christmas Day you'd see those Dalek costumes made of plastic and polythene, I was so jealous. Never saw one on any other day of the year. I suspect they had a short life-span.
Did anybody have one?

" AL is as entitled to her opinion"

What opinion is that?
"par for the course on here I suppose"

LOL if u can give it you can take it. I'm sure there weren't removed answers on this thread because people showed too much affection for eachother.
Question Author
Thanks for pointing out the removed answers spath I've just seen them. Think they must have been deleted very early this morning. Personally I would have left them in to show what sort of replies I had to put up with.
You're probably correct, HereIam......though I've been a long time fan of the programme I haven't been able to watch many of the latest episodes....
I was just surprised that the words in the OP came across as a bit rough or common rather than tongue in cheek or humorous...which it could have been from the comments which followed....could have started a fun thread if better thought out.....x
Question Author
Spath you are correct, you should be able to take it if you can dish it. Unfortunately AB is not a level playing field.
i think overall she will grow into the role, i am not a big Dr Who fan but it was a decent enough start.

gness How about playing the ball instead of the man? Personal attacks on ones character are against Site Rules but I'm prepared to run a book that yours will not be removed. Hope you and Dave are keeping well . xx
I find they all grow into the roles.. I for sure wasn't a fan of david tenant on his 1st episode but by the end we didn't want him to go did we
Oh well we can't all be perfect can we!
Question Author
Emmie yes I hope she calms the character down a little. She needs to find her own 'Dr' not a rehash of Matt Smith's doctor.
